The Synergy of Collaboration

HP Serve collaborates with government and community organizations to help build systems to affect long-term systemic change among agencies that serve at-risk youth.  If we help change systems, we will not be addressing the same issues to the same degree ten years from now.
There is powerful synergy in collaboration. During 2013-2014, HP Serve staff participated on the Governor’s Committee on Human Trafficking and on various task forces throughout the state. Shared Hope International is the national organization that rates how well each state is addressing the challenge of sex trafficking of minors.  From 2013 – 2015, Louisiana’s rating improved from a “C” to an “A”.  In 2015, Louisiana scored a 96 A, the highest score in the nation!
HP Serve also worked with law enforcement to design a wallet-sized card to help Louisiana State Police (LSP) patrol officers recognize signs of trafficking. State police  distributed the card to more than 5,000 officers. Since tracking results from the cards in fall 2015, LSP has identified six trafficking victims through routine traffic stops.
HP Serve has been working with the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) for more than five years. In July 2016, HP Serve became the provider for independent living skills training for all youth in foster care in the Baton Rouge area. In this role, we equip every youth aged 14-17 in foster care to acquire the skills needed to live independently. Developing these skills is critical because youth in foster care “age out” of the system and no longer receives housing and some other supportive services beyond their 18thbirthday.
We thank God for the many opportunities we have to serve our city. We are honored to be able collaborate with such incredible people and organizations. Together, we can change the future for our youth and those who follow. Thanks again for all you do to support us.

Occasionally we identify trafficked victims with specific individual needs such as bus tickets home, youth appropriate shoes, gift cards for food or clothes, etc. If you would like to join a mailing list to respond to specific client emergency needs, please email
